Mama et Moi Meets | Mamazou

Hi Everyone!  It’s that time of the month again for Mama et Moi Meets.  This month we got to meet the lovely Jenny from Mamazou.  Mamazou are a small community dedicated to supporting all parents. It’s that simple. Jenny decided to set up Mamazou for two reasons. ” Firstly, I was inspired by the emerging crowd of mums and dads rejecting ‘one size fits all’ parenting and secondly, I had some pretty terrifying experiences on other parenting forums that left me feeling isolated and judged. We don’t do any of that here. Instead, Mamazou celebrates all parents as we navigate this crazy journey we call parenthood in the best way we know how. We are about offering advice without the side helping of judgement. Mamazou is a safe social space born from the rise of the sisterhood, the motherhood, the parenthood. “

Take a peek as we get to know Jenny a little better.  We are definitely with her about the Maldives though!

1) Tell us a little about yourself & how your website came about?

Hi All. My name is Jenny and I’m a mama to one gorgeous, just turned 4-year-old little girl. The idea of Mamazou came to my mind when I was first pregnant. I joined a few forums to ask some questions about parenthood but found the mothers on there were quite bitchy and judgmental. Facebook was a no go as I wanted to remain anonymous and Google always led me to a panic because I’d over read and spend the rest of the evening with analysis paralysis! It was then when I had my lightbulb moment!

2) How do you juggle work/being a mama and keeping your website up together?

Gahh, it’s really not easy. I think the word ‘juggle’ is a major keyword. That and balance. I try and plan my time accordingly and in order of priority but sometimes things don’t go to plan and it throws me off completely. When I’m with H, I’m a full time mama – then the time around her (evenings / nursery etc), that’s spent working!

3) Who are you top blogger influencers and why?

This may sound like a cop out answer but truthfully, I don’t have a top list. Every blogger/influencer I have discovered through my line of work, I’ve found rather inspiring. There’s always something that resonates with me and I am fortunate enough to work with so many.

4) What have been your websites high’s and low’s?

I’ll start with the lows…. My lowest was when I found out that the web design company I had invested in to make my website went into liquidation soon after the site launched. I lost EVERYTHING. Including all my savings. I was absolutely heart broken and very close to calling it a day. But thanks to the support from my family, I picked myself back up and re-started from scratch.

The highs – I’ve been so fortunate to meet some wonderful people along the way, develop new friendships, work with some incredible companies and watch Mamazou go from strength to strength! Hearing the feedback about it is exceptionally rewarding.

5) Three top tips you wish you knew when you started Mamazou?

1. Don’t overshare your ideas – people will copy!

2. Don’t celebrate a victory until things are signed on the dotted line

3. Believe in yourself more!

6) What was your weirdest pregnancy craving?

Avocado – considering I absolutely hated it prior to pregnancy it was very weird. And today, I’m still addicted to it!

7) What is the one thing you wish you knew before you had your baba?

That’s a good question – I think that would be that mother’s intuition is best 🙂

8) If you could only have one item, what is the one thing as a Mama you couldn’t live without?

My family… does that count as one?!

9) Last time you had a full night’s sleep?

A million years ago – at least it feels that way!

10) Most embarrassing Motherhood moment?

When I was talking to a neighbour and H told me she needed to pee – we quickly ended the conversation and H said to me “I didn’t really need to pee, I just wanted to go.”

11) If you had 48 hours without the munchkins what would you do?

Catch up on sleep, have a massage and watch TV in bed.

12) What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve never watched Sex and the City!

13) What has been the funniest mummy/daddy fails that has happened to you?

I think there has been so many! But now that you’ve asked the question, I seem to have gone blank!!  *scratches head*

14) What destination is on your bucket list and why?

The Maldives – I’ve always wanted to go… I think it’s the white sand and the clear blue sea – the colours, they’re so dreamy!

15) What is your knackered Mama Style tips?

I’m not the best when it comes to style but usually skinny jeans with a baggy jumper are my go to!
